Thrift Store finds

Society have embedded in our minds that the though of Thrift stores should be associated with people that are poor, and that if you lead an average life, were you're not missing money but wish you had more, you shouldn't be going really be going here to buy your clothes. We all know that within thrift stores are often treasures. I often hear people telling me that their is designer brands and vintage items that honestly, only the wealthy can afford without making a choice to pay rent. But where are all these items? I'm not the patient person in the world which is why I often prefer going to a mall as everything is organized. I want a navy blue sweater, well I go to the sweater section where everything is divided by size and color. Easy peasy. And honestly, every time I go, I never really find much.

This all changed last night! I was on the hunt for beads for a necklace I have in mind that I wanted to make. On my way to the craft store, I decided to stop at the Thrift store to see if they had some for a lower price. Well, within 45 minutes, I found Guess jeans, Valentino Jeans (didn't buy them cause they didn't exactly flatter me, but still Valentino), a Monsac Original purse and two tweed floral-patterned Oscar De La Renta travel bags.

Honestly, I like designer brands; I like the quality of their products, but I don't like the price tag and I prefer paying my rent. So these finds have lite a fire inside of me to see what else I can find in the future. Oh yes, and I did end up finding what I needed to make an awesome necklace!!

I'm still new at this adventure, but what has been your biggest find at a thrift store or any tips to share?

Rimmel London Kate Moss Long lasting Matte Lipstick

When we pick a lipstick, we consider many factors. I've recently been on the hunt to find a lipstick that could perhaps compliment my usual lip balm.

First, of course, the color, depending on what I plan on wearing or my mood. They have a nice selection of colors - so far, I've bought the Red #111- Kiss of life and the Pink # 17.

Second, the smell. I must say the smell of this lipstick is amazing. It has a sweet smell that makes me feel good about wearing it. I've bought other brands before and honestly, this is what has me hooked to this specific line.

Third, the famous, long lasting promise. This one is tricky because unless you don't eat, drink or touch your lips at all during the day/night, it's impossible for the color to last without re-applying. I recently went to a wine festival and I retouched my Red #111- Kiss of life about 6 times during the period of 3 hours. Overall, it's not bad, but I would of liked that of would of lasted a bit longer.

Fourth and for most, the cost. This line is priced for the average person. For the quality that I find it is, I paid $6.99 CDN which compared to other brands, I can afford to buy a few without breaking the bank.

So, on the Bella chart, I would rate this as 4 out of 5.

Garnier Olia 5.3 Medium Golden Brown

I love trying new products and I love changing my hair color! Over the years, I've tried many different products, including my "blonde's have more fun" fiasco moment from this summer. *I guess I was having too much fun* But seriously, being blond for a brunette takes work and with fall well underway I decided to go back to my roots. I hate the harsh smell of hair dye; as we all do. I was also on the lookout for something that didn't completely destroyed my hair.

I tried Garnier Olia 5.3 Medium Golden Brown. First off, it's two steps, like most hair dyes. You mix the developer and the colorant.

The smell is the dye is great. It does not contain any ammonia and it's made with an oil blend. AS the box says, it did leave my hair feeling smooth and the color looks great!

Overall, I'd gives this product a 5 out of 5 on the Bella chart! Now we just have to see how long it's going to last!!
